History

Nottinghamshire Powerchair Football Club (NPFC) was founded in 2005. The aim of the club was to provide disabled individuals with specially engineered chairs to play the sport, powerchair football.

The club entered 2 teams in the first-ever National League Season 2006/7 with borrowed chairs. The club bought competition chairs in 2008 and has entered teams in every National League Season since.

NPFC also competes in the Midlands Powerchair Football Leagues which includes teams from the West Midlands and East Midlands. In addition to both national and regional teams, the club occasionally participates in friendly matches and festivals.

In 2015, the club celebrated its 10th year anniversary, hosting an event at St George’s Park in commemoration of this unique milestone.

What Is Powerchair Football?

Powerchair football is simply football but through the use of powered wheelchairs. These chairs come fitted with specially engineered guards to enable the players to kick the ball safely. It is a fast-paced team sport that is played at regional, national and international levels around the world.
