History
Nottinghamshire Powerchair Football Club (NPFC) was founded in 2005. The aim of the club was to provide disabled invididuals with specially engineered chairs to play the sport, powerchair football.
The club entered 2 teams in the first ever National League Season 2006/7 with borrowed chairs. The club bought competition chairs in 2008 and has entered teams in every National League Season since.
NPFC also competes in the Midlands Powerchair Football Leagues which includes teams from the West Midlands and East Midlands. In addition to both national and regional teams, the club ocassionally participates in friendly matches and festivals.
In 2015, the club celebrated its 10th year anniversary, hosting an event at St George’s Park in commemoration of this unique milestone.
What Is Powerchair Football?
Powerchair football is simply football but through the use of powered wheelchairs. These chairs come fitted with specially engineered guards to enable the players to kick the ball safely. It is a fast paced team sport that is played at regional, national and international levels around the world.
Club Awards and Achievements
Over the 15+ years of being a club, we have achieved many outstanding awards that display our commitment and ambition as a sports club. It also showcases the talent and potential players at the club have when competing against other teams across the country.
- Nottingham Forest won their very first national championship league in the 2012/2013 season.
- The NPFC team have also won 2 East Midlands Regional leagues during the 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 seasons.
- Won the Nottinghamshire FA Grassroots Award in 2019.
Training Sessions
We currently run two traning sessions during the week. This enabls us to trainour elite players and development players during different sessions.
Wednesday Training
NPFC our premiership team and Nottingham Forest Team our championship team train on most Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm at Vision West Nottinghamshire College sports hall. This training session is for our elite players to train ready for the various leagues the teams enter.
Note: Due to current circumstances training isn’t available until further notice.
Monday Training
The NPFC Outlaws team trains most Monday evenings 6-7:30pm at Harvey Hadden sports center. This session is for new players to develop their skills and gain experience in the sport. It will also give players some opportunities to play in tournaments. At the end of every season, we offer Outlaws players the chance to trail out for the NPFC or Nottingham Forest teams.
